Estate Projects
Our producer-partners run incredible social programs in PNG that benefit thousands of pickers throughout the year. The following are maintained year-round:
- Free housing for all pickers
- Free elementary schooling for pickers’ children and children in the surrounding community
- Free basic healthcare
- Free AIDS educational programs and testing
The estates are some of the main employers and economic contributors for the entire region
Benchmark Contributions
A core element of Benchmark’s mission is to use coffee as a medium to help people. We do so in the following ways:
- Benchmark has committed to an annual donation to fund text books for the three schools that are owned and operated by our producer-partners in Papua New Guinea. We are in our fifth year of this contribution.
- Both Benchmark and our roaster-partners have teamed up to fund new clean water tanks for community villages that are in need. Two have been fully installed and a third is planned. This will provide clean water access for roughly 900 people.
- Benchmark pays the estate directly for coffee. Direct payment ensures an ability to know where your money went and ensures that purchases directly support actual coffee production and estate social programs, not premiums for unnecessary intermediaries
